Walk from ObesitySM is a national walk-a-thon event that takes place in communities all over the United States to raise awareness about obesity. The program raises money to fund obesity research also serves to educate the public about the disease and treatment options.
The event is a fun, family-oriented event for those who are struggling with the condition, those who have successfully overcome obesity, and those who want to support others in their journey and the battle against obesity in general.
Funds raised from the Walk from ObesitySM support the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Foundation’s mission to fund obesity education, research, and access to quality treatment. Those participating in the Walk are encouraged to ask friends, family and colleagues to support their efforts by donating and attending the event.
Top Walk from ObesitySM fundraisers are eligible to win prizes and awards. See the ASMBS Foundation’s fundraising tips page for help with fundraising. Those who register for the walk online can create a customized fundraising page on the Walk website and use the social media toolkit for sharing their progress.
